10 March 2023: We had a visit from US Senator Angus King today, who dropped by for 45-minutes on his way to Sanford City Hall. While here he met library board members and staff, and learned details of our renovation.

Joining Senator King were Shenna Bellows (Maine Secretary of State) and Lori Fisher (Maine State Librarian) who were here to officially recognize the 100th anniversary of the Sanford Library Association’s incorporation.

Federal Grant

December 2022: Exciting news to close out the year!

The recently-passed 2023 federal budget included a $3-million grant to renovate Goodall Library! The library had applied for this grant earlier in the year, and Congresswoman Chellie Pingree decided to include it in her list of Community Project Funding requests. To help advance the cause, she also enlisted the support of both Maine senators: Susan Collins and Angus King.
